New Work Competence Group
New work processes, modern approaches to employee recruitment, automation and globalisation – even in 2024, the world of work continued to face many challenges and opportunities.
As a companion on the journey towards digital work, the New Work Competence Group once again advanced a range of engaging topics. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace was a particular focus for us and our members.
A key highlight was our event in Bochum in cooperation with the Security Competence Group. Due to demographic change and increasing digitalisation, the cybersecurity sector – as well as the entire Internet industry – faces the challenge of attracting qualified skilled workers. Following brief keynote presentations from business and academic representatives, participants were invited to share personal experiences and discuss possible solutions. From these discussions, we were able to derive five tips for retaining skilled workers.
Through surveys and interviews, we sought to reflect the views of different groups and promote an exchange of ideas. This resulted in the publication of numerous insightful articles.
Surveys:
- Defying the Railway Strike with Digital Tools
- Germans Want to Use Artificial Intelligence to Alleviate Skills Shortages in These Sectors
- Women Critical of Career Advancement Opportunities Through AI
- Artificial Intelligence Can Improve Working Conditions, Believe Most Germans
Interviews:
- Artificial Intelligence Alone Does Not Make You Happy – Prof. Verena Nitsch, Institute for Industrial Engineering, RWTH Aachen University
- 3 Questions for Carina Franke, G DATA
- 3 Questions for Thomas Strasser, Hewlett Packard Enterprise
- 3 Questions for Marc Hölscher, netgo
- All Companies Can Benefit from AI: 7 Questions for Christian Forjahn, aConTech (German-language)
In our eco podcast “Das Ohr am Netz” (“An Ear to the Internet”), we explored all aspects of the Internet industry – including the digital world of work. In 2024, we released another engaging series of German-language episodes on this topic:
